I think my absolute favorite part in Amelie is…
When Amelie has Nino meet her at the Two Windmills and he brings out her picture and asks,
“Is this you?”
But Amelie gets shy and says, “No…”
And Nino looks confused for a split second, but then grins a little and says,
“Yes, it’s you.”
Because that smile is so already smitten with her. And he’s so confident and pleased with himself, knowing who the girl who’s been leading him on these strange scavenger hunts is. I just love how he says ‘Yes, it’s you.’
I dream of finding the Nino to my Amelie one day.
